President Obama’s recent stimulus bill has stirred up a lot of controversy. Harry Reid, as Senate Majority Leader, had a huge part in the negotiations for getting this bill passed by the Senate.
Funny thing though, it seemed he FORGOT he was also a Senator representing the state of Nevada!
Look at these numbers:
States other than ours are getting millions of dollars for construction projects. For example:
New Jersey = $46 million
New York = $98 million
Pennsylvania = 77 million
Where does Nevada rank in funds allocated by the government for 2009 spending on construction projects?
Nevada = $18 million.
By contrast:
New Mexico = $36 million
North Dakota = $31 million
Wisconsin = $2.1 billion
And last but not least:
Puerto Rico = $52 million.
Even Puerto Rico is getting more money than Nevada for new construction projects, and yet our congressional delegation wastes all of its clout and trades favors to block the Yucca Mountain Project.
Also:
Nevada is getting less help from the federal government than most other states on a per person basis. In total stimulus funds, the state has a per ca pita rank of 50th out of 51 (that’s 50 states plus Washington, D.C.); in education funding, it’s 51st; in transportation, it’s 48th; and in Medicaid funds, it’s 47th.
But when it comes to the $1.5 billion that’s earmarked for the state in a variety of areas, Nevada falls near the bottom. Only Utah’s was less than Nevada on a per capita basis.
Nevada’s total haul from the $787 billion federal bill was about $560 per person. Utah, with $1.4 billion for 2.7 million residents, got $530 per person.

As you can summarize from the above graphs, Nevada ranked very poorly in stimulus grants. The big question remains though, HOW can a Senate Majority Leader that also represents our state get such poor results for the state he is SUPPOSED to be representing?
What else is interesting concerning this stimulus package is how much “business as usual” is encountered between the house/senate and the democrats/republicans. This is supposed to be an unprecedented bill that needs the promised bi-partisan support that our President promised us during his campaign and yet we get bickering described below…
Jack Cafferty did a Commentary on CNN called “Stimulus bill a sorry spectacle” where he stated:
“What a joke. Your Congress has voted to spend almost $790 billion of your money on a stimulus package that not a single member of either chamber has read.
The 1,073-page document wasn’t posted on the government’s Web site until after 10 p.m. the day before the vote to pass it was taken”
And continued with:
“The criminal part of this boondoggle is divided into two parts. The first is the Democrats promised to post the bill a full 48 hours before the vote was taken to allow members of the public to see what they were getting for their money. Both parties voted unanimously to do this … and they lied.”
I’m sure part of the reason there was no time for the public to read the bill was the 11th-hour internecine warfare between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
When Reid first announced the compromise had been reached, Nancy Pelosi was nowhere to be seen. And it would take an act of God for this egotistical, arrogant woman to miss a photo op where she could take credit for anything. But she wasn’t there.
She summoned Reid to her office, where unnamed sources said she blew her top over some provision for schools that she wasn’t happy with. Pelosi’s snit delayed everything.”
He then makes this excellent summary as follows:
“It’s really too bad President Obama couldn’t figure out a way to jettison these two who are poster children for everything that is wrong in Washington. The Associated Press called the birth of the stimulus bill “sausage making” in the best tradition of Washington politics as usual.”
“Obama better step up his game, or it’s going to be a short four years in office.”
I find this interesting that Obama’s hands seem to be tied by these two “children” running rampant in Washington. So much for the promised CHANGE as this just seems like business as usual.

Reid urges Obama to clarify stimulus restrictions on casinos
Harry Reid urged the White House to clarify restrictions on spending federal stimulut money on casinos, saying the rules are vague and “overly broad”, and are causing confusion in Nevada.
The concerns stem from a provision in the sweeping economic stimulus bill passed by Congress in February that prevents stimulus spending “for any casino or other gaming establishment.”
This shows just how much interest Harry Reid has for the state of Nevada! He did not even take the steps to INSURE proper stimulus funds for the MAJOR INDUSTRY in this state during the creation of the Stimulus Bill!
Good thing we have the Senate Majority Leader as our state’s representative! What will he ignore next? Construction issues?
Reid should have known what was in this bill, especially any provision concerning his state, let alone the MAJOR INDUSTRY in the state he represents.
Just further proof that Reid does not have our state’s best interest in mind!

How can the Senate MAJORITY LEADER not back a provision of a promise his President clearly stated in his campaign?

This article, in and of itself, shows how ignorant we all are and how we are fine we are with the path to socialism, as long as we “get ours” in the process. The author of this article doesn’t even attempt to address that the “stimulus package” violates changless, timeless principles and how we have been sold a bill of goods by opportunistic politicians, who have scared people into thinking that throwing money at a problem will fix it. The voice that we should take back to the Reidtard is that the people of his state don’t want his filthy money, nor do we want to give it to anyone else.

The stimulus package is the use of government force on those who do not have the ability to defend themselves. Our individual rights are being denied through legalized plunder and the author of this article is just concerned that Nevada gets more of the spoils. Get real.

Reid and Pelosi jointly wield the congressional wrecking ball that Obama slams once or twice every month into the Constitution and the American economy. As a direct result of Reid’s efforts to pass the biggest scam-based ripoff in human history, the Crap and Tax bill, our family’s home will soon be history. My social security check, along with the money I receive fom a couple of roomers is right now just barely sufficient to take care of my mortgage and all basic expenses.
The CBO’s ridiculously low, self-serving and self-justifying inflation estimates to the contrary (on the basis of which Social Security Cost Of Living Adjustments are now to be eliminated), this bill is going to add around $600 dollars PER MONTH to the expenses of every household in the country. Before changing his story, Obama himself admitted early in 2008 that Cap and Trade would make energy prices SKYROCKET.
Because of Harry Reid’s treasonous activities, I’m destined to die living in trailer, if I’m lucky, and my children and grandchildren will be living in the equivalent of a miserable third world country. Can you understand why I hate this traitor so much.
Looks like Harry has failed Nevada once again. NO stimulus funds were acquired for a high speed train that would have helped our main industry, tourism.
We need help like this like we need a hole in our head…
